香登(Kagato): another mini gem on Saigoku Kaido

Kagato is another place that has a section of old town. On one blog, Kagato was an unofficial inn town but I could not confirm it from other resources yet.

On the right, we are passing Ouchi shrine. Apparently there was a record of repairmen during Taiho years(701-704), so the shrine is older than that.

This is a soy sauce company.
Meiji emperor stopped by here.

On the left, there is Jesus Christ Church in Japan Kagamo church. It is a Protestant church, founded in 1895. The current church building was built in 1964.

Some beautiful houses continue.
This is nearly the end of Kagamo section.

The next stop is Fujii inn town. Note that there is Tsuitachi-ichi unofficial inn town between Kagato and Fujii, but from the google map review, there are very few things left in Tsuitachi-ichi. So we are going to skip it.
